@Dawn_SD, silly you. Arc is not a thing. Nor is it a place. There were no apostrophes used in 15th century French so the D’ is deceptive…

Joan’s (Jeanne’s) last name was simply Darc.

D’accord cheri. Je suis en France en ce moment, alors j’ai cru que d’Arc c’était une ville ou quelque chose comme ca! 😜

All of your humming birds is for me!!! 😈

OK, well maybe not. But we have them year round in San Diego, and they often fly up to us in the garden, as if to say “who the frack are you, you think you own this place???”

Very funny, lively, talented creatures. Just glad they don’t eat bees. The bees wouldn’t have a chance… 😲

That’s actually the first time I’ve seen male and female together. They’re probably going to mate and then she’ll have him for dinner .

There are 2 different mantis’s there. The brown one is male and the all green larger one is female. She will eat his head during mating and they’ll continue to mate even though he’s headless. Girl’s gotta eat I suppose.

Upon inspecting the hive today one frame of brood was damaged while removing it from the brood box for a look-and-see. In the photo you can see the drone cells that were damaged.

And if you were wondering how I managed to damage the frame (it was stuck)…

Two weeks ago none of the flow frames had any honey (Spring is belatedly arriving here in Oz). Now, all but one of the flow frames have honey to some degree… 😃

So this is where I typically take my dog for a walk…

![](https://cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/6/6d30dc0043542f1dfbb55f5b95387e7d506bb7ae.jpg)

Last year I knew for certain of at least one feral hive in the bush where we walk (I was stung right on the bridge of my nose…).This next pic is the tree the feral hive lives in. They were there last summer, made it through winter, and are once again busy. I don’t get any closer than about 3-5m (10-15ft) to this hive as the bees truly are feral and on the aggressive side of polite.

![](https://cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/4/4d822f3584a550de54a390ac9c20651bdc4b3372.jpg)

On our walk today we came across two docile swarms. They certainly weren’t there yesterday and one of them had formed in the time we initially walked past and then looped back.

![](https://cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/c/cea382a0975e8462c972907f611017d0eb9839e6.jpg)

and

![](https://cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/f/f21258bfc4d8e18ee2d2a0a9702ef212bc40d60a.jpg)

My bees haven’t swarmed, and they seem far too docile to be a swarm from the hive in the first pic.

On a side note, I’ve noticed that the activity level of the native bees has also increased…but they are a bit harder to photograph…
