Has anyone ever just placed a 5lb sugar bag on top of their hives and let the bees eat through the bag? Was wondering if that would work versus using newspaper.
One sheet of newspaper is much easier for them to chew through than the bag on a bag of sugar… I have done it, but it takes the bees a bit to get into it. I would use the newspaper.
Ok thanks for the info. Tried one where a poked a bunch of holes in it and slit open the top just to experiment.
Holes would help. Getting it wet helps get some sugar into the paper which incites them to chew through it.
