Our Big Leaf Maples bloom from early March into April depending on our local
weather n location. The neighborhoods, parks n foothill slopes become alive either fresh spring green flowers n then leaves. It’s a wonderful Springtime event for our local honeybees n people as well. Many other wild n domestic shrubs, bushes n trees pop to life n color early here. Thus I am very excited to get my Nuc’s ASAP here in Eastern foothills Puget Sound !
Hi Raelene, so sorry to here of your misfortune in Harvey. Just came back thru there from Bridgetown to Mandurah & the area certainly was devastated.
Great to see the Marri you’ve found is close to blossom, all along the drive home it was evident just hoping the Marri at Bridgtown opens up soon ,BTW I captured a swarm yesterday so I’ll have to go back down there in the next couple of days with more inverted sugar for the new girls. Ciao
Our bees have survived all the smoke and the Marri are all out in flower, everywhere I look I see big Marri trees full of white blossom
We did an inspection today and found the queen in both hives, she has been very busy, we found eggs and all different size larvae, capped broad and pollen on their legs and stored. Then we started making another bee garden, it’s been a great day
I hope everyone else is enjoying their day.
It is a mixture of glucose and fructose,it is obtained by splitting sucrose chemically.
The advantage of invert syrup is that it will give you a more concentrated solution than sucrose alone.
Hi Raelene, great to hear things are starting to get back to some sort of normality
Inverted sugar; I found this recipe on the web because as one of my hive is in Bridgetown I couldn’t get down as often as I’d like to & sugar syrup would run out to quickly, this way I could make a large block of it & it lasted a full week. Sometimes called " fondant, bee candy or bee feed paste" http://www.bamboohollow.com/fondant-recipe.php
Ciao.
