# Half and half, how much do I use on new flow cedar 2+?

Hello! I have found a half tung oil half citrus mix that comes ready to apply. I ordered a gallon for my cedar 2+ but I’m just making sure that will be more than enough? I don’t want to get half way done with a coat and find out I need more. Thank you!!

Hello and welcome to the Flow forum!
That should be plenty. My 8 frame FH Classic Took about a quart of pure Tung oil. I only used citrus solvent for the first coat. The next 2 coats were pure Tung oil. 😉

Thank you so much! Do you think it’ll be ok if I use the 50/50 for all the coats? It wasn’t exactly cheap haha. I live in Colorado if that makes a difference.

You can use it for all coats if you want to. You may need 3-5 coats, given that it is diluted. It will still work fine though. 😊

You will find it much thicker, and perhaps a bit harder to work with, but it does give a very nice, durable finish in most climates 😉

Just one coat of the 50/50 made my jaw drop. This cedar is absolutely gorgeous! I’m glad I joined the forum first and didn’t paint it! It is funny talking to people from Colorado most are not familiar with the flow system. I’ll have to join a different chat now to figure out what’s the best way to add the bees now in July and get them ready for winter! Beekeepers are so nice! My new favorite hobby!

@JesseH2O Jesse I hear you. I had already painted my FH2 before my first visit to this forum. I almost cried when I saw the first FH that hadn’t been painted. I will soon be doing my first split, and keeping the split as a second FH2, and I WILL NOT BE PAINTING IT, NO WAY. I will was dip it with bees wax and linseed oil.
