im residing in Germany, summer-time actually. I'm completely new to bee hiving. I started with the hive early in May with a new swarm; today in the morning I counted 100 Bees per minute flying out/coming back. The queen seems to be laying, seeing brood covers on the board. Generally I try not to disturb them and use an endoscope for my mobile (20$) to get an overview about the situation in the hive.
I put on the super 2,5 weeks ago. Think the broobox was 60% filled.. the bees slowly began to wax/prepolis line per line of the flowframes from bottom to top. In the centric framesthe bees are the most active. Today the finished 2-3 lines..
I thought about waxing the frames too and bought natural beewax. At the end I did't do it because I don't want to interfere with their natural speed.. I even didn't and won't feed anything.
I viewed all the videos with the waxing. In my opinion the bees aren't too happy with it. In my opinion they try to clean the frames first.. and this leads to this "boardwashing" explained in one video where a lot of bees seems to do something at the outer wall of the hive.
I have a probelm with humidity in the flow frames at the moment (took of all plastic caps to support the airflow.. Does anybody has some experiences with it?
I keep you posted. Don'T hesitate to ask me about my rookie experiences.
The best for you and your bees. I love bees!
