Update- inspected the long flow hive today- success!! 3 of the four flow frames are full and ready to harvest! Also another 4 regular frames at least of capped honey at either side of the brood- which is booming and looking very healthy and strong. So I will get at least 22 kgs this year leaving a heap for the bees… I probably could have gotten more if I had been more proactive - and hadn’t lost my Queen early in spring. The full frames do not look capped via the rear window- I should have known they were capped and harvested them 6 weeks ago. Not to worry- happy days! The
Flow frames are capped very fat🤓
Have 2 flow frames with rows of misaligned cells- the bees have worked around those areas. Not sure why as I set them carefully with multiple key wiggles…
My vertical QX has burr comb on it- but it is still working fine. Inspection was a breeze bees totally calm throughout.
I had two ideals on top for the last 3 months- bees ignored these 100%- I put them on too late- I’ll try them again early spring.
