Hello all

I apologize in advance if this is a silly questions.

Where would be the best place to discuss “gardening issues”, related to bee foraging of course?

Thank you very much for your help!
Marc

“Beekeeping basics” category would be a good place to start, just ask away. Unless you have several acres that you plan to plant out for bees I think you’ll find that your bees will mostly be heading off elsewhere. But there’s lots you do if you are prepared to research it.

Here is an example of one topic on plants / forage for bees:

You can do a search in the top right hand corner of the screen. Here are a couple of examples:

Hi @MarcBee

I’ve been asking questions along the same theme. There is a lot of info out there, but I was looking for more localised info. I headed to my local council and they had a list of local native plants (about 40 pages) that I took and cross matched with a few different Australian native plant lists suitable for bee, butterflies etc. I now have a spreadsheet, including a flowering calendar of 74 native plants, 24 of which are specifically for bees that I’ll be using on my 15ha property (re-vegetation).

The Bellingen Council have some resources, as does the local land care group. As much as I love traditional urban gardens (the wife is desperate for a rose garden for example), I really wanted to keep our property not only native but suited to the area hence drawing on the local plants first.

Great site! I’ve not used it that much, records are not that extensive in my area.
