First hive - getting a nucleus next week. Some people suggest quarantining the queen for 3 days before adding her to the hive — thoughts?

Are you getting a package or a nucleus colony?
A nucleus colony should be an established small colony with an active, accepted queen - why would you remove/quarantine her?
If you’re starting from a package, which is probably where you’ve heard that advice, then you should allow the bees to acclimate to their confined new queen before introduction, which is different than “quarantine.”
Use the time before your bees arrive to get a good book or take a beekeeping class! There’s a lot of information to get up to speed on.
