hi JeffâŚthanks for your video aboout small hive Beetle trapsâŚthe box and frames looked like they had gone thru a bushfire, very tragic Thanks to you i know what to look out forâŚGlad we dont have to burn our hives here in Australia ! Again thank you Jeff for all your informative videosâŚlove em keep it up!!
Do you have any videos of this hive now that there are bees in it?
Hi & thanks Adam, yes I do. Iâll put it on here. I donât recall repainting that box. Itâs in the last half of this video. Thatâs the stand it sat on for 12 months next to one hive. The other 2 hives that were going were on the first stand. I donât show any brood, just honey frames & replacing them with foundationless frames. Also itâs a look at the farm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILzTd9POwGI Youâll see me squashing SHB, they are everywhere but they never bother me. About the foundationless frames, as long as the frames have residue wax on the top bars, the bees will continue it down beautifully otherwise I find theyâll start building on the two frames flanking it. In case you canât make out what Iâm saying, at one point I show a frame of honey on a foundationless frame. cheers
Gâday Sya, many thanks, great to hear from you. My only regret about this video is I didnât show the scorching process & the ferociousness of the flame I use. Nothing microscopic would live through that. We only have to remind ourselves how beautifully our bush grows back after a fire goes through. thanks again, bye
