Venom nitrile gloves... a PSA

Vicious one! Back in the 70’s dad ordered beekeeping gloves from the USA. They were wolverine leather which I thought was supposed to be “the best” for beekeeping gloves. Is that leather now out of favour and was there any better protection with them?

That’s curious, the bees definitely didn’t like the gloves I had, they haven’t gone for my hands since. I know you keep a lot of hives and are definitely knowledgeable but on the other hand the beeks in my club and the varroa researcher teaching beekeeping classes, who herself owns 700+ hives, all agree in that regard.
Who to believe? I don’t know but I’ll stick with what works for me :woman_shrugging:

You need to use what works for you. I could never stand having my hands wet all day and they smell by the end of the day… I’ll stick with the leather.

The problem with black nitrile gloves is the colour.
Bees don’t like black and will attack any black object that moves.

Wear natural coloured latex gloves and you won’t have that problem.

Actually the reason I got stung is because I pinched a bee… they’ve never just attacked because I was wearing black… that’s the only time I’ve been stung.
