Hi Lance
I have my flow hive 12 months and only just harvested 2 frames today it took them nearly the whole summer to start putting honey in the flow super so i decided to leave the super on over winter and at the moment it bursting at the seams with bee’s i have just finished harvesting 2 frames and the other 4 look pretty close to being ready also. I also put a n ideal on top of the flow super so i can cut wax squares out of them when they are ready. I would definitely recommend rubbing wax on the frames as mine took forever to start putting honey in them. Another thimg i noticed when going back through photos to confirm was that i initially was going to take 3 frames today but as the first one was draining the bees started uncapping the frame to the left and sucking the honey out so after seeing this what ever frames are ready do them together cause they know you are robbing them
Fantastic reading guys , just love it great answers to many questions by all which is what this forum is for Well done guys keep it up .

In my situation I’d do two frames and then the bees would start stealing from the nearly done frames and deposit in the ones I just emptied giving the appearance that I was loosing honey. It all comes out in the end. I thought maybe the bees are assigned to a particular frame and had no respect for her neighbor when her back was turned, kinda like a cat fight.
I put no wax on my frames, could it be that you put your Super on too early or there was a bad flow this year in your area?
I also am new to this…I had a great year…last year with only hive. Bought a second and it never took off. And the first one ate all the honey. Last year I got several jars. This year, not enough to feed the bees for the winter. I am going to try again next year.
I might add that I didn’t harvest 1st year and just left their honey for them to feed on through winter as I will not feed sugar. (wasn’t capped anyway) I have found in beekeeping you should not expect harvest 1st year. In the case of Flow Hive, let them seal frames 1st year and you will be harvesting your May/June of 2nd.
