And pollen traps
And simple wear and tear.
some bad misinformation in that video,
Hi Brett, you made me take a look. What part do you consider to be bad misinformation?
cheers
hey Jeff, where he says that a certain temp will make more foragers and so on, thats rubbish, all bees change jobs as they age, it has nothing to do with brood temp
Iāve seen other studies from the UK that suggest bees are born to do certain jobs. At the time I didnāt believe it possible. However there might be some truth in it seeing as the BBC are showing those findings. Some scientists must have some compelling evidence to be able to make those claims. I keep an open mind on the subject.
I beleive nothing the ABC and BBC ever say, I beleive Tom Seeley and John Swan, how have you been anyway?
I have been feeding all my bees
Weāve been good thanks Brett, not having to feed any bees here. We went for a short drive earlier. I couldnāt help but notice a lot of the Gum trees in heavy bud. Iām expecting a decent honey flow in the coming weeks that should last until the middle of June.
I believe Tom Seeley is very reputable. I havenāt heard of John Swan. I take your word that heās also very reputable. Thereās a lot about bee culture that Iām sure the scientists still donāt know.
After watching that video, especially the last bit, it got me thinking about when a colony swarms. There must be a lot in who stays & who goes. A lot more than we can ever imagine.
we had a flow early on when i got the bees off you but nothing to speak of since Jan, my hives were not big enough to make the most of the flow as they were always wanting to swarm because I didnt have enough drawn out comb for them,
Thatās an excellent video, never saw any thermal videography like that inside a hive before. I had no clue about the different temperature of bees inside the hive.
Cheers.
