I became a new beekeeper after a feral swarm adopted my yard March 31st. The day they arrived, I drove out to a commercial beekeeper to get a brood box with drawn frames to put them in. I began my research to learn all I can and have fallen in love with bees in the process. The swarm started out very small - barely filling 2-1/2 frames - but they have since filled the 10 frame deep and I just added a flow super above 4 days ago and they are already starting on the flow frames. The reason I rotated them is because, as they have grown, the guard bees have become more defensive and I don’t want to take chances with safety for my neighbors and family since these are likely Africanized.
