Vestigialamentum

A newbee, as green as can be, living in Cape Town, South Africa. The practical part of my adventure commenced on the 31st of August 2017 with two swarms caught in trap boxes.

In my province, the Western Cape, we work with Apis mellifera capensis, the Cape bee; despite numerous unsuccessful efforts to introduce the European bee, it has emerged with an untainted gene pool. It is smaller and a little more feisty than the bees most of you are used to, but not as feisty as the cranky albeit incredibly industrious African bee, Apis mellifera scutellata.

I love this cosmopolitan forum and the cultural exchange that it affords us. Equally fervently I also love engaging with the folks that make this forum worthwhile, so drop me a line and forgive my millions of questions and digital diarrhoea.

Love
