Todays lesson: What not to do & what a normal bee sting reaction looks like

 well I tried, Bobby!

They do have face recognition…maybe see what happens if you wear a mask & wig

I mowed around my hive last weekend and the girls barely registered that I was there. I had the grass catcher on and was also fully decked out in my suit and gloves.

I went right up to the hive stand with the mower and then used garden shears to trim the grass in and around the base; again they did not even blink.

My bee stings always swell up hard and itch for a good week. I’ve heard that unlike other things which you can develop immunity against, bee stings can actually get more and more severe the more you get stung.
Footnote: I accidentally killed a lathargic bee on the stairs once and was absolutely fascinated by the fact that the venom sack came out of her abdomen entirely as the bee walked along. The sac was eary looking as it kept pumping like it had a heartbeat for at least 5 minutes. Point proven, the venom gets pumped in to the victim ferociously while it can!
