Where did you get that nice stuff?
It’s just from my usual bee bits supplier. Weld mesh.
We also have an outfit called the "Mesh Company"
Have you something similar?
Thanks Dee, I have been Googling…I think I will look at 3mm perforated sheet.
O
Great solution Dee to a problem I’ve been trying to solve. I must have shifted wires when cleaning my deadout in April 2017.
I found Perforated 430 Stainless Sheet, 24 gage, 1/4" Perforations, 5/16 Staggered Centers and 22 gage, 1/8" Perforations, 1/4" Staggered Centers.
Have I found something similar to what you are using?
How thick are yours?
Would you recommend the 1/4" hole or the 1/8" hole?
How did you attach it?
I might have to temporarily wedge it in the top slot until next spring when the wasp aren’t flying before I can think about doing any permanent modifications.
I am not @Dee, but don’t use the 1/4" hole. Most bees can get through that. The SBB in most hives is #8 hardware cloth, which has holes a little smaller than workers. So the 1/8" would be the best choice unless you have humongous SHB running around.
Awesome. Thank you Dawn. I’ll try the 1/8". Lucky to say, I haven’t experienced the SHB (knock on wood).
