Brisbane Swarms- So Many Questions

Swarm hive gone. It looked like most of them went home to parent hive. Is that a thing?

It can be, if they don’t reach consensus. They will probably try again, though.

I caught two swarms this week- one has stayed- one absconded on me :cry:Don’t know what their problem was- I gave them a nice home. I wish I’d put a brood frame in there. The other one has half built out a few foundations already- after just 24 hours!

Where was that. Thanks for pics.

In Adelaide.
There are swarms everywhere this week here’s another I was sent a pic of but couldn’t get to yesterday:

I like to put a frame of open brood into a caught swarm. Not only does it help keep them there it tells you whether they have a queen

Does open brood mean uncapped larvae?

And eggs, yes, sorry I should have been more explicit
I caught a swarm…a cast and after four days they drew queen cells. Virgin didn’t get back from mating. I could do something about it, then rather than wait and see
