Hi Pete I see Jeff has been suspended for 1000 years. Effectively banned.
He gave good advice but also noticed he tried to discredit Flow hives. I’m not surprised they suspended him. This forum is payed for by Flow isn’t it? Why try to ridicule their product when he doesn’t even use their hives?
Not sure where your getting that information from but he is on the forum right now.
I don’t think he tries to discredit Flow Hives when he is only telling the truth about what issue can happen and advises a way around it.
Yes, the forum is a part of Flow Hive. But does that mean we can’t give advice about the problems that can happen with their product? True Jeff prefers traditional hives, but has first hand experience both good and not so good with Flow Hives… He doesn’t need to own a Flow Hive to have seen them.
Cheers
That is sad that Jeff giving an honest opinion based on personal experience and sound advice can be misconstrued as a conflict of interest. Uncontrolled censorship in my opinion and not good for the forum.
At least he got a PM to me this morning giving me a confirmation on what I was thinking about a frame of brood.
Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers
Well that escalated fast!
I didn’t see any of the earlier comments as controversial, more supportive and just another opinion.
I hope that Jeff hasn’t been suspended as i have enjoyed & been educated by many of his earlier replies to posts, & yours also Peter.
I am one of the moderators on this forum. I feel very strongly about avoiding heavy censorship and you’ll find that for the most part I take a background role here and leave you all to chat amongst yourselves.
Differences of opinion are not unusual in beekeeping - there are often many ‘right’ ways of doing things, and what works in one region may not be best practice in another. I love hearing about all of your different approaches and encourage friendly debate.
Unfortunately we have had to suspend Jeff’s account not because his methods were different, but because he was deliberately and actively advising Flow users to use our products incorrectly.
He acknowledged on his profile that he does not himself use our products, yet persisted in advising that they be used incorrectly.
To date, we have had to remove 173 of his posts in response to complaints from the forum community, and have issued formal warnings as well as repeatedly requesting via private chat that he stop advising customers to use our products incorrectly. Please be aware that this was not my decision to make and was not done on a whim.
I am very sorry for any upset this may cause anyone here - I realise he also could be very helpful and supportive and that many of you will have forged friendships with him through the forum.
I would like not to see this turn into a big public debate about whether management’s decision on this was correct or not. We are all here to discuss bees and beekeeping, let’s keep the conversations focused on our shared love of bees.
However, if you feel you need to, please feel free to send me a private message in relation to this matter if you wish.
