Longer Brass Latches

I purchased the brass latches to help secure the boxes and once installed I realized the throws are too short to allow for installation with the roof and the ability to latch the boxes together because the brass throw is too short.

The solution was to add a brass stand off spacer and then screw in another 4cm threaded brass rod onto the other end lengthening the entire treaded rod. This allows me to keep the bottom latch on the box low enough to access the roof on every box while a long enough throw to secure the boxes. I think this set up may even be long enough to bridge the inner cover to secure a feeder box as well, but haven’t tried that out yet. The only place that doesn’t require is the base since I cannot think of a situation where someone would put the roof on the base with no boxes.

Specs:
Stand Off Spacer: Brass; M5-.08 x 10mm (1cm)
Threaded Rod: Brass; M5-.08 x 40mm (4cm)

I kept the system with brass since mixing metals has weird oxidation impacts that I didn’t want to account for and I like the brass.
