Hello out there. Are there still no mallorca beekeepers out there? We finally have bees in our flow hive and one ordinary hive, too.

I live in Mallorca and thinking about getting a couple of hives same as you one normal and one flow hive. How are you getting on with yours?
Ah. Sad news. Both our hives absconded. I’m still new to beekeeping, and haven’t found any experts yet to help me here, but my UK beekeeping friends seem to think that I should have taken out the queen excluder over winter. But I didn’t as I thought they were still laying. They also had wax moth, but it wasn’t that advanced. Learning curve climbed a little more.
So, I have cleaned out the hives and I’m waiting until I can get another swarm or two!
Before all that, the flowhive had more and busier bees. They did occasionally put honey in the flow hive frames, but they didn’t like it much and neither hive grew fast enough for us to think about taking honey. They suffered badly in the heat when there were no flowers, despite plenty of sugar and water.
This time, I am going to make an extra half box to make the brood area bigger on both hives, and I’m going to try half flow frames and half normal frames until I’ve got a bit more expert.
Where on the island are you?
Oh dear, sad news indeed! Having somebody to get some advice from would certainly help. I messaged the guys at Mel Vici for some pointers on how to get started and they pointed me in the direction of a few places to do courses but not sure what their english is like as my spanish isn’t brilliant. They said that they sell hives etc, so thinking to go to them once this lockdown is over.
We live in Cala Vinyes - though not certain about keeping the bees here as we live in a community or at a friends in the country.
Hello , Im Heike from Ibiza,Im german . I have two flowhives in our garden. Last year I had also wax moth … Hope this year will be better.The year befor it was perfect and we had 12 kg honey 
I learn a lot from a beekeeper here in Ibiza.This week I will put on one hive the honey box. Kind regards from the neighbor Island

Are you still looking for beekeeper in Mallroca? I am beekeeper from Czech Republic and I have 17 years of experience with bees in our country. I have 2 ordinary hives now but I worked with 30-60 hives in the past.
I just spent a week on Mallorca during vacation and I was surprised that there were just a little bees around there.
So I told myself that I could look for someone from Mallorca interested in beekeeping to share our knowledge. I am interest to visit Mallorca again to start cooperate and create a small beehives’ colony.
