No Honey after limited initial success

Hi Team, we are new to all this and started with some limited success. About 5 weeks after installing our swarm we were amazed at harvesting about 1/2 litre of honey. For such a short period we thought that was great. Now after another 2 months we have checked a few times and no honey. Could it be that we have had a particularly wet summer? Its also been very hot. We seem to have plenty of activity around the hive on good days. Could the bees be exhausting what they collect with so much rain restricting their normal routine?

There are lots of possibilities but you will need to tell us what is going on inside the hive to identify if there is a problem.
Even though its not high swarm season any more you should still be inspecting the hive regularly to check that the bees have stores, that the queen is present and laying well, that swarming has not occurred or isn’t imminent and that there are no disease issues.

It could also be a response to local nectar flows. If there is a dearth things slow down quickly.

Ditto to what @JimM & @AdamMaskew said.

Hi Berrico,

Hopefully you’ll receive some input from beekeepers nearby you who understand your local conditions, but please also feel free to email info@honeyflow.com if you’d like the team to assist you with some troubleshooting on this.
