OK I've taken the Super off, now what happens to the Bees

So, I’ve taken the Super off for the winter.
Did the last honey dump, checked the brood box, plenty there for the winter
There are a lot of bees still in and around the super, what happens to them, and what should I do?
I was told by a bee keeper to place the super well away from the hive, and that was it.
There are still a lot of bees flying around, is this the normal procedure?

this is my 3rd year of bee keeping but the last year I kept the super on over winter to make sure the bees had enough honey, this worked well.

cheers

All right, problem solved, I now know what the go is…

May I suggest to let us know too?
