Anyone found an affordable place to source reeds for a pollinator hotel? I’ve looked around and the only affordable options are cardboard. Natural reeds are crazy expensive. I’d love to build one but I’m not sure I can afford it. Does the material really matter?
Hi Phillip, I’m not sure if the material matters all that much. Have you thought of drilling holes in scrap wood? That would be very affordable.

If you’re able to trek out to a pond or river, or a marsh, you might find some reeds you can cut a small bundle of. You won’t need many to end up with enough cut sections for a little hotel
