I never used foundation, can’t imagine chewing on comb I don’t know where it comes from.
Never had a problem with much bridging comb either. It helps a lot to alternate drawn comb with foundationless as guide.
Someone mentioned once that the orientation of the hive entrance has to do with whether the bees draw straight or not. Don’t know if it’s true, but all my hives’ entrances are facing north east (Southern Hemisphere).
