Stored honey smell

I store my honey in white buckets until I use them. I have noticed that after a year in a bucket, it gets a fruity smell when I open the bucket. The honey gets a little fruity taste as well. My honey is usually borderline for moisture but below 20%. It is not bubbly or foamy.

Is it fermented or is that just what happens to honey over time?

Possible the smell from fruit the bees have collected nectar from.

You’ll know of its fermented. Smells like alcohol :yum::yum::rofl:

Just make honey mead if it ever happens.
