Top bar hive and they say 2 weeks between inspections but left some bars adrift in their previous aborted inspection. It can happen that quickly, just like swarming.
That was painful to watches and them saying to kill the bees on the comb removed from the hive by putting it in a freezer !!! And not knowing of a honey press, as a way to extract the honey from a comb. Glad I’m not one of their bees.
Cheers
I only watched the first minute. It looked like it was going to be painful to watch. I can see that George got the message to check the roof on a regular basis in order to prevent the bees from filling the roof cavity with comb & honey.
You watched the best minute of it Jeff, it only got worse. It brought back memories of the father and son pair about a year ago who went for so much smoke you couldn’t see them or the hive for smoke. This pair didn’t have a smoker, maybe another item they hadn’t heard about. The sad thing it is on YouTube misleading beginners.
Cheers
Hi @George_Perth, based on my recent inspection you did the right thing not putting the Super on.
Depending on how our weather goes I anticipate you’ll start to see a buildup in your colony again around mid to late August… Leading to installation of the Super in early September (based on inspections, of course… Not just my crystal ball gazing).
