ACT Beekeepers Field Day - 17/3/2018

ACT Beekeepers Field Day – 2018

Hi everyone,

The ACT Beekeepers Field Day is on again next Saturday, 17th March, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Free admission, fun-filled, and something for the whole family.

Last year over 500 intrepid bee enthusiasts and families came out to play, listen and learn— even though we had a wet start to the day! People travelled from around the country to come and partake, some as far as Brisbane.

I loved hearing from all the beekeepers, however one particular Flow beekeeper’s story has stuck with me; keeping bees with a Flow Hive encouraged them to reach over the fence and become good friends with their neighbour.
I think it’s incredible that beekeeping not only encourages an interconnectedness with nature, but also builds community and friendship among fellow humans.

Although we will not be attending in person this year, there will still be a Flow Hive demonstration honey harvest at 12:30 PM.

There will also be:
• A huge variety of stalls and activities for the whole family including ‘hands-on’ demonstrations of beehive management, as well as specialist suppliers of beekeeping equipment.
• Demonstrations of honey harvesting techniques, and a chance to try some of the regions unique honey varieties.
• A selection of food and drink from around Canberra, showcasing the growing local food movement.
• Bee-friendly plants for sale to turn your garden into its own pollinator paradise. PLUS, more!

Where: Jerrabomberra Wetlands Centre, 2 Dairy Rd, Fyshwick, ACT. View Map
When: Saturday 17th March, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Make sure to come along, it is sure to be a great day!
