Bee Photographs

Yesterday’s inspection:

This is what happens when you forget to tell your bees that it is a bad year for honey in the Northeast USA. Communication is essential lol!

opened up my hive this evening. Wanted to check to see if what I was seeing thru the window as correct. I thought I could see some honey being placed. YES the girls are hard at work. All the frames had some honey in them. Just over 2 weeks with the Flow Frames on the hive.

Well done Ed, those frames look beautiful.

Also wanted to make note that the set screws on the flow frames, I had mine a bit too tight thinking they did not need to move at all. The 1st time I pulled them out doing hive inspection, the propolis had not built up enough and it was fairly simple to pull out. This time the bees had put enough around that it was very difficult pulling the frames out, and I lessened the screw a little bit so that there was/would be a little bit of movement it appears that it is okay, I’ll see if it makes any difference in pulling out the frames in a couple weeks.

A still from a vid I took a few days ago - she landed on my hand while I was sitting next to the hive & spent a good minute & a half grooming herself, including her tongue!

Well finally figuring out how to do a bit of macro.

Is it just me? Can’t find the bee?

Great Photo’s Nice Job. What kind of camera? and lens?

Guess the site shows it cropped - just tap/click on it & it should display the full size

I did do initially, didn’t make any difference? will try again another time
Tried again, you’re right just cropped out…they’re tongues are amazing…

Yes its a beautiful photo, it was Eva’s photo of hand where I couldn’t see bee, but thanks

LOL LOL Thank you for clarifying. I would’ve never known there was a bee on the hand if you had not said something. I saw a little red puffiness and thought the photo was of a sting, the text on the posting and the photo did not make sense, did not want to question. I’m trying to repost, now that I clicked on it really really like the photo as well, the tongue sticking out is amazing

OK, got it to all fit. had to use a “png” file

Your initial view of photo was mine too
Love the colour & light in your photo…

The first one is using a $2 macro lens on my Nexus 5 phone. The second one is my Nikon DSLR. I’m far from a pro, so I don’t know the particulars.

Yay, thanks Marty! I just downloaded a converter app & will try to post this video too

I also thought it was a photo of a bee sting, however there was just a few bees hairs visible on the bottom of the photo.

Thought I would post this, this is the most I’ve seen, activity at the end of the frame. It’s getting more and more every day. Looking into the view window on the side, could take a good photo but I’m seeing quite a bit more fluid placed in the cells. I’m expecting next time I open up the hive, I will start seeing some cappes on some of the flow frames. Looking into the view window almost every cell has some sort of fluid in it.

Totally excited

Nice Marty! By the way I’m trying unsuccessfully to either convert or publish my video to YouTube so it will post here. Having a silly amount of difficulty. Using iPhone 6 so it’s a MOV file, needs to be converted but so far I’ve had no luck finding a proper app…now the vid is supposedly queued to publish on YouTube instead…for an hour. Any ideas for a faster conversion method?
