Buying Queen Bees - Purple Zone

Hi,

Does anyone know if we can purchase and ship a queen bee to the purple zone from blue zone or even outside the state?

Cheers,

Roshi.

Hi Roshi.

while looking for an answer to your question, i found this one the DPI website

Thanks a lot for the info. I read all the articles but couldn’t find the answer.

I am planning to move a queen bee illegally as I am not prepared to pay $1m or go to jail for 3 years.
Jokes aside, I have a couple of aggressive hives and need to re-queen them.
I am not sure if I can buy a new queen from a ‘clean’ zone and replace my queens.
I could not find any info online regarding moving/purchasing queens from clean to purple zones. I thought there may be some other beekeepers in my situation out there who are desperate to re-queen but need to do it soon whilst complying with the lockdowns.

Cheers,

Roshi.

Hi Roshi
Not sure if this fits but if you bought a queen from a registered commercial bee keeper then would this statement not count about registered commercial bee keepers?
‘Registered commercial beekeepers are allowed to move queen bees with any escorts, and queen cells from interstate into the Surveillance Zone and General Emergency Zone. The queen bees with escort bees and queen cells must be moved in a secure bee proof container and remain in the secure container until arrival at the premises of the hive into which they are to be placed.’

Thanks John. I think it does it for me. I am not a commercial beekeeper but I think as long as the one I am buying from is registered commercial then I am good.

Big help all. Cheers.
