Can flow frames be put in a dishwasher top rack to clean off propolis?

Hello and welcome to the Flow forum!

One of our Forum members famously tried this. The answer is, don’t put it in the dishwasher if you are married and want to stay that way…

The dishwasher became gummed up with wax and propolis. He had to spend a couple of days cleaning it up, and then needed to shower his wife with presents to obtain forgiveness.

If you use the magnifying glass tool at the top of the page and search for something like “cleaning Flow frames”, or “propolis and Flow frames”, you should find a lot of posts. Some people have had success with freezing the frames to make the propolis brittle, then repeatedly opening and closing the cells with the Flow key to fracture the propolis off. Others have used a pressure washer (gently) and had good results. You should find several ideas to help you out.

Please let us know if we can help any further
