I used to think just like you do - but you’re a long time under the grass, I want to stay on this side for a little longer. If you’ve got two suits gathering dust in the cupboard and you don’t wear them, what made you buy them?
To each his own but don’t rush to the other side mate, take your time - you’ll get there soon enough.
There’s no point in learning lessons the hard way when you can do exactly the same thing with a suit on. Sorry for being so brutal but that’s how it is for me and you have to remember that bees are not pets, they are wild animals!
Thanks John. I make sure i have my suit on whenever I am doing anything with the bees now, not always comfortable or convenient but necessary, unfortunately. I did go to see my doctor after 3rd sting & leg was size of a football 3 hours later. I may get anotyher opinion re the cortisone being my only option though.
I’m resurrecting an old thread I know, hope that’s alright, I don’t know a lot about bees, I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of bee/wasp this is, it’s in Australia if that’s relevant. When I saw it first it struck me as it was so big, I left it be, and then later came outside again and put a foot in a shoe and it was in the shoe and bit me and I had a hair raising five minutes afterwards as my heart rate went berserk (up to 170) and I got the shakes and dizziness. Thanks
That Is a European wasp (Vespula germanica) and if you are in WA it needs to be reported ASAP to the Ag Dept.
I’m unsure of the other state requirements.
