Getting stung, I'm doing me some research :)

Howdy all,

Just wanting a bit of a go around of the forum

How long have you had your hive?
How many times have you been stung?
What were you doing?
What protective clothing were you wearing?

Cheers

Hi Nick
Ive had hives in my backyard for 4 years
Been stung probably 100’s of times now
I dont wear any protective clothing ( dont mind a sting here n there, its good for you in small doses! )
No need to put on a bee suite if you know when to inspect & how to use a smoker

Hi Beaver,

Your braver that me… I’m sure I’ll get stung anyway but I’m still getting a suit

The one I got was a cotton full with gloves.

Cheers
Nick

Almost 9 years

Countless times
Usually on the face if I am being a bit to curious about what the bees are up to at the entrance of the hive without a veil or suit on.

The ankles if the suit hasn’t fully overlapped with my socks, and the wrists if my gloves haven’t overlapped with the suit sleeves.

Also on the fingers if I have decided to ditch the gloves and move a little to quick inside the hive.

Nine months.
Just the once, on the fingertip.
Lifting a frame and she got under my finger and panicked.
Full Flow suit and nitrile gloves. I’d caught the glove on something and pierced it. That’s where she got me.

One year, three times. I tend to blow up a bit and itch like crazy for a week. Last year I got it on the face and I looked like H. Kissinger for two weeks!

Now I am pretty careful and wear a full suit. I’m starting to wear the goatskin gloves too now, as I’ve been stung through the latex. I hate the itching. It’s agony.
