New member here, have had Flows for 4 years, going really well. I run composites, Flowframes with standard wax frames. Just about to reduce one hive back to single brood box, found too many drones and hive has not performed as well as hive with single brood.
Hi Keith, welcome to the forum. Are you using foundationless frames? I have better luck reducing drone numbers by using wax foundation frames. Then I make sure that the bees have done a good job of drawing the comb into mostly worker comb. Plus I also use single brood.
Yes wax foundation, after brood has hatched they have fully filled frames with honey, I will strip bees and move super to top of hive (above queen excluder) for winter stores. This will give them 8 + 8 super frames plus 4 deep frames for winter stores.
