Preventing Swarms with a Hive Split
In this video, we demonstrate a walk-away split to prevent overcrowding and reduce the risk of swarming as spring approaches. On a warm, sunny day—when bees are calm and out foraging—we remove frames with eggs from the original hive and place them in a new hive, allowing the queenless colony to raise its own queen. Using the Super Lifter for easy access, we prepare for the season ahead while keeping colonies healthy and well-managed.
