I found this article very interesting. It shows that they will go at least 7 miles but after 4 miles it is a losing proposition.

I use the BeePlus app to manage my apiaries- it has satellite views of your site and overlays the bee forage circle so you can see how far your bees can potentially travel- and what they might encounter in the landscape. Actually seeing the potential size of that zone is quite surprising. I have been wondering how far they go when there is food close by. I see huge trees in full flower 1km from my house and hope my bees know about it: but at the moment there are many trees within 100 feet. I am curious how far mine actually do range.
