We are putting together the Flow Hive Classic and noticed we have only 8 brood frames and it looks like we have room for one more. Is this supposed to be this way or were we shorted one (because there will be a gap using the 8 they shipped.). Thanks in advance.

No they didn’t short you, there are meant to be 8 frames. Push them together in the middle of the box, leaving slightly bigger gaps at the outside. As the bees use the hive, they will put wax and propolis over the frames, and eventually your 8 frames will be a snug fit. Meanwhile the gap is useful for levering frames apart, before lifting them for inspection.
