In my supa what is this cell the bees are attending too?

Hi Paul, that cell is a supersedure cell, however it and the surrounding cells are full of honey at this point in time. I often see bees include a supersedure cell when they build new comb, not that they want to use it during the time of construction. They must build them in case they need one in the future.

I harvested that frame yesterday and all was very good.

Always concerned about queen laying in my Flow hive Supa after a couple of months ago finding 2 grubs in a jar i had harvested.

Somebody has suggested that it was Hive beetle but now don’t see any around and Honey Looks and taste great.

Is it possible with Hive Beetles ???.

Just realized i bought my Hive off you maybe 5 years ago never replaced Queen let them do it naturally.

Hi Paul, it’s great that you still have progeny from the original colony you got from us. You never know, they might even be varroa resistant bees. I say that after watching a video from the UK on selecting & breeding from varroa resistant queens, which I’m going to be looking out for after this period of rain, & going forward.

I think if the honey looks & tastes great, it should be ok. One thing you could do, and something that I would do before harvesting from flow frames is do a sniff test of each channel. If it smells rancid, which we discovered with roughly a third of the flow frames we harvested from so far, they can be cleaned out before harvesting from them.
