Is it too late to Split in the season SE Queensland

Hey Everyone!!
I have recently moved 10 of my hives from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast in SE Queensland ( yes a long drive ) and was just wondering if it is too late in the season to perform a few walkaway splits?
Any feedback or information on the area would also be awesome!!!

I have split three hives here on the northside of brisbane over the last month and all successful.

Hi Cooper, I’m also on the Sunny Coast. I’m currently splitting hives to prevent swarming. I found one colony yesterday that I didn’t get to in time, it had recently swarmed. A colony that I did get to in time was preparing to swarm.

I’m not a fan of walk away splits on account of hive beetles. Hive beetles are pretty bad around here, especially now with all this humidity we’re experiencing.

Welcome to the Coast & the forum, cheers

Welcome to the forum Cooper, and to the Sunshine Coast too.
No reason at all not to do splits considering that there is a good amount of nectar about and a lot more to come with this much needed rain. Pollen never seems to be an issue up here.
I’m ex-Richmond NSW and now at Coolum Beach. You have arrived at the right time — after the drought
Cheers
