Hello Folks, would love some help. Originally I thought this was all just normal propolis. But then I wondered if it could indeed be Nosema. My bees died over the winter, they seemed to starve - but my understanding is starvation can occur for different reasons so it’s not necessarily the root cause. I’m getting more bees and I’m concerned about putting them in this hive and infecting them. Does this look like Nosema or propolis? Is there anything I should do for the hive before putting new bees in? Thank you!
I see mostly propolis except in the bottom photo which could be nosema. Nosema usually looks streaky which is bees defecating in streaks on the walls inside and outside the hive.
I think a good plan would be to sanitize as much as you can before adding another colony. Even if it’s just for a bit of peace of mind.
