Hi everyone,
I am in a bit of a panic…
I planted so much lavender in anticipation of my 2 nuc colonies arriving at the end of September and have just read that lavender repels bees.
Help!
Cheers,
Jo
Oh thank you so very much!!!
Hi Jo,
Through personal experience and observations, I’m quite certain that honey bees love lavender. Flow even recommend it in their Bee-Friendly Garden pamphlet.
I believe lavender is an all-round great choice for your garden. Nice one!
Thank you so very much Bianca!
I am glad that I asked because I didn’t want to plant something that would be anti my new bees.
Thank you
Thank you so much!
It’s so encouraging that I haven’t done the wrong thing for my bees!
That looks like some sort of salvia. Maybe salvia farinacea?
On reflection you may be right.
You learn something new every day
Bees LOVE salvia too
Lavender honey is made all over the world. Not sure what you’ve read but don’t worry Honey bees love it.
Thank you so much for the video!
It goes to show that you can’t believe anything that you read on the internet!
I have to add that real lavender honey is also probably my most favorite honey. I don’t really like honey much - we keep bees for the interest and the pollination of our garden. However lavender honey from the abbeys around southern France is absolutely fabulous. I adore it, and the French bees thrive on foraging the huge lavender fields there.
That is so good to hear Dawn!
I am now happy that I chose to plant lavender and it is thanks to all the support I have received on this forum!
Thank you all so much!
You know, I think bees have great taste! They love most of the herbs and plants that I enjoy too. They love salvia (common name is Sage), they adore Rosemary, all kinds of Basil (Italian, perennial etc), they pollinate our avocados, orange, lemon, lime and tangerine trees. Wow, I wonder why I keep bees??
I do agree with you!
They have wonderful taste - as I love all those things too
Bees adores lavander!
Thank you so much! I have a yard full
