What is this fluid? I saw only 2 hive beetles. We have had excessive rain lately. I’m in Northern California. It doesn’t smell like anything but it tasted bitter. I opened it to see if the girls would clean it up. The fluid doesn’t appear to be in any other part of the hive -just this one spout and not on the frame.
It’s likely unripe honey that has leaked into the trough. Seeing as there is no bad odor, I would suggest to make sure the leak back gap is clear of propolis, and that the hive is correctly tilted back.
