Yes, but mostly has a vertical disc as well.
This similar to what I have. You can sand in both vertical and horizontal planes
Don’t get sucked in to home making one using drills, grinders, sanders and the like.
Oh my!! I NEED one of those!!! Don’t think it will pass the home accountant’s approval though!
I’m sure you could persuade. (busso is smiling)
Hey my smilies have been replaced by bullet and numbered lists. I want them back!!!
Ouch! … I have just bought a small hand router and find the whole process quite scary. Think I need a course or something first before I lose skin and flesh.
This is a 2 HP beast that my father wanted when he came to help us with “home improvements”. He knew how to use it, but now he is gone, I don’t. The instructions are on fragile yellow pages… But I hate waste, so I am struggling with it.
It wasn’t running when I skinned my knuckles. It didn’t even have a bit in it. It is just that everything is so stiff and gooed together with old oil, when it eventually gives… Well, you probably get the picture. Perhaps next time I wear work gloves, but they are so clumsy when you are trying to adjust something in a tight space.
They have every conceivable safety gadget on table and radial arm saws I think just to annoy the user yet the old router is every bit as dangerous because it is so stupid it can’t tell wood from flesh and they have no real safety device.
My new bench saw which replaced burnt out Gert, can actually tell if it cuts flesh and cuts out. I have tested it with a bit of steak and it cuts out with just a slight mark on the steak.
As some one once said “Unbelievable”
I won’t be testing it with a real finger though.LOL
Now that’s impressive…!
At least, not deliberately…
How are the bees doing? And how is your observation stump?
I find watching bees fascinating. Pollen coming in all shades and much activity.
My hive seems to be least active later to what I have read. I have found the hive is most empty (activity wise and observing from the top) after about 12:30. Up to 12 Oclock they seem to be coming and going but the hive reasonably full. It all starts to happen again around 4:00 PM with the workers coming home by the dozens.
I have extended the mouse trap right across the entrance now (same piece of wood, just goes right across) and they seem to use it all.
I put the FlowHive on this morning and this evening there were bees in it. Quite a few just seemed to be wandering about looking as if to say “Now what the hell is this” I was hoping another was saying “suck it up Princess and get on with your job”.
Found a couple of what looked like aborted baby bees on the under tray. They were not completely formed but quite identifiable as a bee. Went to take a photo but camera battery flat. Will keep an eye out now and post pic of anything further.
Ants are a big problem. I sat the stand in a shallow pool of water but with the trees around it catches leaves and they act as ant freeways to the hive. I have worked out what I going to do but will post pics when done. Maybe a while as I will need to shift the bees off the stand.
I going to abandon totally the design of my frame holder. Needs to be simpler to attach frame, steadier, lockable in positions, and swing away from the hive when taking out and putting in frames.
Have that design all worked out in my head, have the bits needed but need time.
Bit long winded but that’s where its at.
busso
Nice update, thank you. That reminds me, I have ant traps to build for our new hive.
Hi Busso, I assume the frame<img src="//cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/7/72bec81d6a57349496b3b81cd93dd96e88ce1b95.jpeg" width="669" height="499"> <img src="//cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/1/11651457fea59bb980be3832e32b39137c8a43a4.jpeg" width="669" height="499"> <img src="//cdck-file-uploads-us1.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/flex016/uploads/honeyflow/original/2X/5/5d2d3daad68f3bbf91e42fdf27876539bf88fd2b.jpeg" width="669" height="499">
holder you’re talking about is for & during inspections being on pension & tight I made this one, 40mm angle & two tent pegs, just remember though you’re canter levering so no more than three frames outside hive & keep moving frames inside hive away from inspected frames, hope that makes sense.
Ants: I have steel legs on my hives & I put a little bearing grease or detergent on them every so often it seems to stop ants from climbing up although those soldier or meat ants are another issue, I used to put the legs in small tins filled with with water but in the dry I was losing to many bees drowning
Good pics. Yes I was looking at a bit of scrap reo thinking they could be arms to hold the first frames while looking at the others.
The frame holder to hold while examining and photographing for me will be different. Learnt a lot from the first model, mainly it’s not as simple as I first thought. But that is in the future.
