I am in the NE of the US (Mass) and started a 2:1 syrup feeding in mid-Sept. The bees can go through a 1 gal tank in just two days so I put two in and those are lasting less than a week. Is it possible to overfeed a hive or will the bees just take what they need?
If it is warm enough, they will take everything they can get. The only way to know whether you are overfeeding is to examine the brood nest. If the queen is still laying, but has no space, you are overfeeding. If there are plenty of empty cells, you can continue feeding.
