Heading into Autumn and beyond that winter, I query suggested strategy for preparing my young (3 month) hive for what’s ahead; reduced pollen and nectar supply. Though having said that, in suburban Adelaide, South Australia we don’t experience any winter snows.
Our hive is healthy, but being young not all brood frames are filled out yet. My wife and I are also very much newbies.
I have begun providing sugar water to supplement nectar supply, and query the extent to which I additionally use pollen patty’s or other form of pollen feeder (particularly if opening hive is too disturbing in the cooler months).
Thanks
