After the queen(s) hatch from queen cells, what happens to the cells. My concern would be, if they remain, how do you not mistake it for a new queen cell down the road.
Most empty queen cells get torn down pretty quickly by the colony - about 2-3 days. Sometimes they ignore them, but if it is an old one, you can tell because the opening is ragged rather than smooth and there is no royal jelly inside the cell.
