Sugar water spray before moving swarm

I’m new to all this, but see that several folks talk about misting down the ball of bee’s with sugar water before attempting to move them. Is this the same sugar water I feed my humming birds? 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water? Thanks for any input"" Randy

1:1 ratio. Misting them with sugar water does no harm.

1:1 ratio is the ideal mix for sugar syrup, you shouldn’t need to spray them. A swarm is already full of nectar or honey, the spray may weigh them down and make them cold which is not good. Get them safely into a box or nuc/hive as quickly as possible and supply them wax foundation if possible and then feed with sugar syrup to stimulate their wax glands.
