Hi again
I have another question, this time relating to the flow hive super frames.
I’m wondering if it’s okay to swap empty frames between hives? My second hive is doing very well but as it’s a new flow, they are still busy building up the flow frames and it seems to be taking them forever. We might finally be getting a decent floral bloom here and I don’t want them to miss out due to still needing to set up all 6 frames.
My other hive is rebuilding nicely but is not as productive as the newer one. But it’s the original hive and all the flow frames are ready for honey.
I keep looking at the empty outside ones and wondering if I should swap them over to the 2nd hive and help them along?
Hi Craig,
Swapping empty flow frames between hives can be a good idea if you’re trying to help the second hive get started faster. It’s okay to do as long as you make sure both hives are healthy and the frames are free from any pests or diseases. Just be sure to not disturb the bees too much during the swap. The stronger hive can help the second hive by giving them a head start, but keep an eye on both hives to make sure everything stays balanced.
Good luck with your hives!
