Top feeding in the winter in Michigan?

Should I be top feeding in the winter in Michigan?
The bees are not eating as fast and the moisture is causing mold on the top cover???
Continuing the discussion from Are these robbers or my bees?:

No - they won’t take syrup much once the average temperature gets below 50°F or so.

If they need emergency feed during the winter they will need to be fed dry sugar.

You should remove the feeder and consider a candy board if they are still light.

Insulating the top and sides of the boxes will also help them conserve resources.
