So my hive is right here but this AM I found a small swarm on my trellis by my hive. What is this and what do I do?
You supplied the answer to your first question in your opening statement, “I found a small swarm”. The best advice would be to capture it in a brood, cardboard, polystyrene box. Anything that will hold bees until you organize a permanent hive for them.
Maybe you should do a brood check, to make sure that everything is ok in there.

Could I just put then back in my hive?
No. The swarm has a queen and so does your hive. A small swarm like that could go in a nuc box, then you could use it as a resource hive.
