I installed a couple of bee packages a week ago, and I set up feeders so they could have some nutrition while they got settled in. They’re going gangbusters now, heading out in various directions, but they’re also still using the feeders. At what point should I take the feeders away?
Have they drawn all the frames and are they storing their feed?
If they have a frames worth of food that is enough to keep them going for a week without foraging.
If that’s so then don’t feed.
I figure if there is any capped comb and a flow going on it’s counterproductive to feed them. They will fill the comb with syrup and the queen will have no where to lay and then they will swarm with only a few bees and no real chance of even surviving…
